This shot was taken at a florist on Valentine’s Day 2012 and she was every bit a General, marshaling her staff to coordinate deliveries, arrangements and pickups. It was amazing to behold!

One light, two shots, a soft box, differing angels and a little adjustment in post.

The photos you are seeing below are from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night event on Nov. 5th in Atlanta’s Centennial Park.

I was fortunate in that I was able to participate in the event in the best way I know how: documenting the day and evening through my camera. It was quite a day seeing supporters, survivors and groups come together around the memory of those lost to these horrid cancers and those who still fight it every day. And though there were many tough moments, on the whole it was wrapped up in a great sense of positivity, community, support and friendship and even celebration. Light the Night Atlanta was able to raise $1.2 million that day, through charitable giving and financial support of the walkers and corporate backers. And at the end of the evening nearly 10,000 neighbors walked and lit the night…

Here is to all those who have lost the fight, whose memories are kept alive by their friends and families. And here is to all those still fighting each day to be a survivor.

It was quite a few weeks for me there, seeing overnight trips back to the home turf of Columbus three times in three weeks. The first overnight trip saw me toasting one of my best friend’s recent proposal to his special someone and a pre-wedding meeting with Matt and Kelli. The following weekend had me in Columbus to celebrate Mat & Kelli’s big day in the best way I know how: behind the camera…

It was a very special day for me as I had grown up across the street from Kelli as a wee little lad and I was in marching band in high school with Matt. To see them come together on such a beautiful day, and to be there to document it, made it one of my favorite weddings to date! Here are just a few from the day!

I decided to go ahead and take a stroll around my neighborhood here in Atlanta, a portion of town called ‘Midtown’. These are shots of some things that caught my eye. Of particular note is the look of these photos. After two years of work trying different development techniques I think I finally have exactly what I’ve been looking for! It was something of a Eureka! moment for me and one that had me dance a small jig in celebration.
